Mending Circle
Join me at the Brookline Public Library for this flexible, hands-on experience to learn to repair clothing artistically. Participants are encouraged to bring an item of clothing to repair; however, we will provide a fabric square to practice on for those without worn clothing items. All the mending tools and other materials are included in this class.
Clothing Swap Optional: Attendees are also invited to bring 1-2 clean clothing items for a mini-clothing swap. Please be prepared to bring the item back if it doesn’t find another home.

People of all skill levels are welcome to this course. All the mending supplies you need to get started will be provided. You are also welcome to bring any items of clothing that are in need of mending, but that’s not required.
My hope is that after this class, you can take these newly acquired skills to curate a more sustainable wardrobe by increasing the life of your clothing and keeping it out of the landfill.

Sashiko Stitches
Join me at Weston AIC to learn about the history of Sashiko, a technique to reinforce worn fabric and/or repair textiles, and work on some Sashiko samplers. All the materials will be provided, but attendees can also bring in woven (not stretchy) clothing they would like to practice this technique on.

Felting as a Mending Technique
Did a moth damage your favorite sweater? Learn a fun technique to repair knit fabrics and add beautiful embroidery embellishments. Feel free to bring your own clothing to work on, or practice using the sample fabrics we provide!
This event is made possible by the generous donors to the Cary Library Foundation and in partnership with Munroe Center for the Arts and LexZeroWaste.

Sashiko Stitches
Join me at Marigold Studio in Groton, MA for an introduction to a traditional Japanese textile repair technique known as Sashiko (“little stabs”). In this workshop, you will learn about the history of Sashiko as well as make Sashiko stitch samplers. This hand-stitching process allows the maker to slow down from this busy and chaotic life in an almost meditative way.
All the materials will be provided, but attendees can also bring in woven (not stretchy) clothing they would like to practice this technique on.
Cost: $50 per person (all sales are final)
Capacity: We will need at least 5 people to run the event with a maximum of 10.

- All the materials to make a sampler (Sashiko needles, Sashiko Thread, Palm thimble, Sashiko Stencil & Fabrics)
