Join me at Marigold Studio in Groton, MA for an introduction to a traditional Japanese textile repair technique known as Sashiko (“little stabs”). In this workshop, you will learn about the history of Sashiko as well as make Sashiko stitch samplers. This hand-stitching process allows the maker to slow down from this busy and chaotic life in an almost meditative way.
All the materials will be provided, but attendees can also bring in woven (not stretchy) clothing they would like to practice this technique on.
Cost: $50 per person (all sales are final)
Capacity: We will need at least 5 people to run the event with a maximum of 10.
Venmo: @Mariko-Sugimori
What's included:
- Presentation on the history of Sashiko
- All the materials to make a sampler (Sashiko needles, Sashiko Thread, Palm thimble, Sashiko Stencil & Fabrics)
- A delicious vegetarian soup will be served by our gracious hosts
- Attendees will also be able to email Mariko after the session for consultations and virtual support!
